V.A. (Temmy) Ylagan When Temmy Ylagan moved to Vancouver, it was with the intent of changing gear, making a career change and enjoying the incredible lifestyle the city has to offer. After teaming with a partner to buy, renovate and sell numerous homes around the city that he discovered how exciting real estate could be! “It’s such a dynamic industry,” says Temmy. “I found that I really enjoy the ‘wheeling and dealing’ and doing business with people one-on-one, and I saw an opportunity to put to use the negotiation and business skills that I learned in the corporate world to really help people move ahead and achieve their dreams.” Prior to entering real estate, Temmy was involved with a multinational corporation based in San Francisco, and spent time working for them in commercial centres throughout the US, Europe and the Far East. From his time in the business world, Temmy brings an expertise in negotiation, exceptional people skills and well-honed organizational abilities – all important factors in helping his real estate clients get the results they need. Temmy specialises in executive and luxury townhomes and condominiums in the Vancouver area, as well as mid-priced family homes. As a life member of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver’s Medallion Club and a recipient of a RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award, he has helped hundreds of families find the right home. One of these families in particular illustrates his commitment to helping people sow the seeds of their real estate dreams. “A former employee of mine was married with kids, and I convinced her and her husband to scrape together enough money to buy a two bedroom apartment,” says Temmy. “They were really nervous about finding something within their price range but I managed to negotiate a great deal for them on a place they loved. “A few years later, they sold the condo for a good profit, and found that they could buy a house. They now have a five bedroom home, and the rent they collect for the basement suite practically pays their mortgage. “This is a family that only a few years before was really nervous about being able to afford a two bedroom suite! I love being able to help people see that real estate is an affordable reality for them.” With family and friends scattered around the world, Temmy often gets the chance to travel, but always enjoys coming home to Vancouver. “This is such a beautiful city, and I love that our lifestyle is so well balanced between work and play,” he says.
